I have been itching to write this post since I had a beautiful facial at Puravida Beauty back in May. But soon after I took off on a 2 month trip to Europe and gave myself this time to be away from the screen. However, it has been on my mind to share this experience on my blog as it was so wonderful and kindly gifted to me by Puravida and their partner skincare range Prologic skin care. There was no obligation for me to write anything, but it was such a gorgeous experience that I really want to share it.

Puravida is a small local salon in Wellington CBD run by the lovely Sherri-Lee and the team. It is a welcoming space offering a range of beauty services including nails, massage and facials. Their newest treat, the gua sha facial has just come on the menu and to celebrate this they offered a few Wellingtonians like me the chance to come in and try it.

The 75 minute treatment is tailored to the needs of clients skin so that you get the absolute best from the experience. My treatment was focused around the appearance of fine lines and blemishes and the products used were tailored to this. The facial started with cleansing and a natural mask which acts like a peel but is non toxic and not harsh as some peel masks can be. This was followed by further hydrating and soothing prologic masks, moisturisers and oils. Sherri Lee talked me through all the steps and why she was using the products that she did. We also caught up on the life, trials and tribulations of being an expat as she is originally from South Africa!

The best part of this massage though is undoubtedly the gua sha massage. This is an ancient chinese practise which involves running a rose quarts crystal tool across the skin of the neck and face in upward strokes to increase circulation and fight the signs of puffiness and dull-looking skin. It feels so good and sculpts the face.

Gua sha is a great practice that can be done at home too and having this facial with Sherri Lee at Puravida also enabled me to gain some tips on how to use the gua sha tool effectively so that I am able to do this properly at home until I can go for another facial.

Prologic also kindly gifted me some of their products which I recieved to use both before and after the facial. I have been trying the anti-acne spray which is great when I am breaking out, the cleansing oil and cleansing cream, the repair moisturizer, and the Omega 3 oil. All of these are all I am currently using and I am in love, especially with the moisturiser and oil, I have never found a lighter and more brightening moisturiser than this one. I love it for every day skin care. Prologic products are made in New Zealand and professionally formulated and without any harsh ingredients. So special, you can also purchase them from the salon here if you are interested, including the at-home facial kit.

Puravida knows how to do skin and they know how to look after you. If you are looking for a luxury facial in Wellington, this is the one. I learned so much about the steps to take to look after my skin and how to use the gua sha tool. Can’t recommend it enough! Definitely in the running for the best facial in Wellington.
